12 airlines are invited by Sardinia to the tender for the routes abandoned by Alitalia

Alitalia will go bankrupt on October 15, 2021, the date on which he will stop all flights. From October 16, a large part of the flights abandoned by Alitalia will be taken over by ITA, the new airline of Italy. However, there will be many uncovered routes, including those to / from Sardinia.

In this context, Sardinia is organizing a tender for routes abandoned by Alitalia and is inviting 12 airlines to submit tenders. The deadline is Wednesday, September 29. According to the emergency procedure, the routes will be assigned on a 7-month basis, pending the preparation of the new two-year call.

The regional government of Sardinia has sent invitations to the 12 carriers operating in the Italian national sector to participate in the tender. The air links from the 3 airports in Sardinia (Alghero, Olbia, Cagliari) to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate will be awarded, in a public service obligation known in the country as " territorial continuity ”  (territorial continuity).

The invited airlines are: Air Malta, Blue Air, Blue Panorama, Danish Air Transport (DAT), easyJet, ITA, Neos Air, Ryanair, Volotea, Vueling and Wizz Air.

The six routes are currently served by Alitalia, which will cease operations on October 15, leaving subsidized services without an operator. The offers will be evaluated technically and economically, route by route, and the tasks will be specific to each route.
