The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, witnesses filming and photographing the aircraft in flames near the runway of Malta-Luqa airport. The destination was Misrata Airport, Libya.

All 5 crew members were of French descent. The Maltese authorities have confirmed that there are no survivors following the accident. An investigation is ongoing and the airport has been closed. Flights are redirected to Sicily.
