Airport Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Pure Health and Tamouh Healthcare, has launched a free rapid PCR testing program for all passengers arriving in Abu Dhabi (except those in transit) with results received in less than 90 minutes via SMS .

The new RT-PCR laboratory, of the latest generation, performs the tests within Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to facilitate travel procedures, but also to facilitate the quarantine procedure, if necessary. The laboratory has the capacity to test over 20.000 passengers and staff per day.

All passengers arriving at Abu Dhabi International Airport via terminals 1 and 3 will be tested at the AUH PCR test center. The results of the Covid-19 tests will be sent via SMS or WhatsApp, and will also be available on the Alhosn mobile application. Passengers may leave the airport after receiving a negative PCR test result.

Passengers who receive a negative PCR test score and arrive from countries on the green list presented by the Abu Dhabi government will not have to isolate themselves. Those arriving from countries not on the "green" list will have to isolate themselves for a period of ten days. During this period, they will wear a quarantine bracelet that will be mounted on the PCR test tent at the airport.

Passengers transiting the airport will not be tested before departure to final destinations.

The laboratory, developed and operated by Pure Health, and the passenger healthcare unit, developed by Tamouh Healthcare in the United Arab Emirates, will have the capacity to test over 20.000 passengers a day. The 4.000-square-meter facility will operate non-stop with up to 190 employees.

The launch of the Covid-19 rapid test services follows the introduction by Abu Dhabi Airport of a comprehensive range of security measures at Abu Dhabi International Airport, including a specially trained team of wellness ambassadors who have been trained to support passengers by answering questions more frequently related to maintaining good health while traveling, encouraging social distance and providing personal protective equipment (PPE).

In addition, the airport has implemented touch-less elevators, SterixEco Gates sterilization tunnels, thermal scanning cameras, and facial recognition cameras that alert staff if passengers or visitors to the airport show symptoms of Covid-19 or do not wear masks.
