As of April 18, 2022, Australia cancels all test requirements for all travelers. "If you plan to travel to Australia after April 18, 2022, you will no longer need to take COVID-19 tests before traveling," said an official from the Australian Department of the Interior.

"Foreign travelers entering and leaving Australia will still be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19," said federal Health Minister, Greg Hunt. "Travelers will be required to continue to wear masks during international flights, based on medical advice."

This decision comes just over two years after Australia closed its borders, when Covid-19 swept the world. The decision to phase out was welcomed by the Australian tourism industry, which was paralyzed by border closures and testing requirements. Domestic tourism is not strong enough to support the hotel industry and local HoReCa.
