Austrian Airlines has excellent news by the end of this year. The Austrian airline, part of the Lufthansa group, is expanding its list of international flights, adding to its flight schedule a new destination on the North American continent, as well as exotic destinations in Asia and Africa.

Vienna - Shanghai
Austrian Airlines will launch long-haul flights to a new destination in Asia next year. Thus, starting with 4 April 2016 and until the end of the year, Austria's national airline will operate a Boeing 777 aircraft to Shanghai. In April 2016, the races will have a frequency of 5 flights per week, and from 1 to 2016, the race will be daily. Shanghai is the second destination in China from the Austrian operator's list, alongside Beijing. The Vienna - Shanghai race will last approximately 10 hours and 20 minutes, the distance between the two cities being over 8.500 kilometers. The new route not only gives passengers the opportunity to travel to the largest city in China, but will also open new possibilities for transfer of passengers in transit. About two-thirds of passengers will make transfers to Vienna, continuing their journeys to destinations in Western and Eastern Europe in particular.

Prices for flights on the route Bucharest - Shanghai start from 599 for return flights, with all taxes included. Tickets can already be booked online at www.austrian.com or through travel agencies.

Vienna - Miami
From October 16 2015, a Boeing 777 Austrian Airlines aircraft will fly to Miami every day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The company is thus adding a new destination in North America, along with the five existing ones: New York, Newark and John F. Kennedy airports, Washington and Chicago in the US, and Toronto in Canada. The growing demand for this area has caused the company to increase the frequency of flights to the destinations on its list, operating up to one daily flight to them.

Courses to Miami will be available throughout the year. The flight duration, which will cover 8.400 kilometers, will be 9 hours and 40 minutes. The price of a return ticket, starting from Bucharest, starts from 529 Euro, with all taxes included. Tickets can be booked online at www.austrian.com or through travel agencies.

Vienna - Mauritius
From 29 October 2015, the company will operate non-stop Vienna-Mauritius flights every Thursday and Mauritius-Vienna flights every Friday. Passengers will have the opportunity to relax in the new cabin of the Boeing 767 aircraft, to watch movies of their choice on individual monitors with touchscreen technology and to enjoy dishes bearing the Do & Co. signature. After 10 hours and 40 minutes of flying, the aircraft will land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius.

In recent years, the interest of Austrian passengers for destinations in the Indian Ocean area has increased markedly. Austrian Airlines flights to the Maldives are also extremely popular, a clear sign of the potential for tourism development to exotic destinations operated by Austrian Airlines. Tickets can be booked online at www.austrian.com or through travel agencies. The price of a ticket starts from 959 euro, in Economy Class, and from 2.599 euro, in Business Class.

Vienna - Colombo
Along with Mauritius and Miami, Austrian Airlines is adding a new exotic destination to its network. On 27 October 2015, Austrian Airlines will begin operating weekly flights (every Tuesday) to Colombo, the state capital of Sri Lanka. This is a new landmark for Austrian Airlines in Asia, along with Delhi, Bangkok, Maldives, Beijing and Tokyo. The company will operate a flight with a Boeing 767 aircraft on the route to Colombo, the flight covering a distance of approximately 7.450 kilometers in about 9 hours and 10 minutes.

Sri Lanka is nicknamed the Island of Spices, being popular especially with tourists who want to enjoy the local culture, relax on the wonderful beaches and get to know the country and the locals in the context of an adventurous vacation. The destination will be available during the winter, and the price of a return ticket from Bucharest starts from 545 euros, with all taxes included.
