Boeing delivers the first Boeing 747-8i to Lufthansa

In the last 2 months I kept telling you about the new aircraft Boeing 747-8i and about Lufthansa being the first airline to operate such an aircraft. The time has come and Boeing is delivering the first 747-8i. It wasn't on 23 in April, as it was officially announced, but it wouldn't be too late. The giving and receiving ceremonies will take place on Never again at Everett and on 2 more in Frankfurt.

With this delivery, Boeing opens the "gates" to a new era in civil aviation. Towards efficiency, better performance and lower fuel consumption. Boeing and Lufthansa have a long history of collaborating and introducing new technologies in modern aviation.

Lufthansa employees began preparations to receive the new 4 aircraft. On May 1, Boeing will host a festive event based at Everett, with the first 747-8i flight to Frankfurt. Lufthansa will organize 2 on receipt.

The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental generation will provide lower fuel consumption, lower engine noise and less CO2 emissions compared to the 747-400 generation. The 747-8i aircraft will be powered by 4 GEnx-2B engines from GE Aviation, a General Electric subsidiary.
