The United Kingdom has temporarily banned access to engine-powered Boeing 777s Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 in its airspace after the incident in Denver. We remind you that the engine of a Boeing 777-200 suffered major damage shortly after takeoff.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority has issued a statement confirming the ban.
In a statement posted on Twitter, British Transport Minister Grant Shapps said:
"After this weekend's problems, the Boeing B777 aircraft with the engines in the series Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 they will be temporarily banned from transiting UK airspace ”.
"This aircraft model is not used by any UK airline. It can be found in the fleets of airlines in the US, Japan and South Korea, where the authorities have stopped them from being used. "
After the Denver incident, Boeing has recommended suspending operations for the 69 Boeing 777 aircraft in operation and the 59 B777s in storage, propelled by the same engine type, until the FAA identifies the appropriate inspection protocol.
