British Airways has long led the aviation industry's efforts to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. In 1992, it was the first airline to report a carbon footprint. In 2019, British Airways' parent company, IAG, became the first group of airlines in the world to commit to eliminating CO2 emissions by 2050, and last year British Airways became the first major airline to compensate - voluntary - all emissions from domestic flights.

British Airways, as part of the IAG commitment, has said it will supply 10% of its fuel needs with SAF by 2030.

Following the unveiling of the new livery, British Airways also announced a partnership with Bp, committing to providing sustainable aviation fuel for all its flights between London, Glasgow and Edinburgh, during the British COP26 climate change summit in Glasgow on the end of this year.

The airline presented some of the initiatives it has introduced to improve air and ground sustainability, including the transition from diesel vehicles to electrically powered vehicles with renewable energy and the removal of the weight of its aircraft by introducing lighter seats and trolleys. , flight magazines and paper flight manuals. He also highlighted his efforts to remove disposable plastic and obtain more products made from recycled materials, including the First Class duvet and World Traveler Plus kits.
