Announced at the end of July, the relaxation of travel restrictions in Canada came into force on September 7. With the exception of flights from India and Morocco - which are still suspended, all passengers fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (with Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, or vaccines authorized by the European Union) at least 14 days before entry into the country and asymptomatic may enter Canadian territory without quarantine.
Specifically, travelers must provide proof of vaccination (in English, French or a certified language and the original document) upon arrival in Canada and register on the ArriveCan portal. They will then be asked to provide proof of a negative PCR test before boarding a plane or crossing the land border. Some passengers will be randomly selected by Health Canada and will have to take a second test.
For unvaccinated travelers, entry and testing restrictions remain. The unvaccinated will also have to stay in quarantine for a period of 14 days. Canada closed its air borders on March 18, 2020 and land borders three days later.
Airlines such as Air Canada and Air Transat have partially resumed flights on long-haul routes, while Porter Airlines will relaunch domestic flights from 8 September.
