Croatia's defense minister resigned on Thursday after an air force training plane crashed in the country's southwest. The two occupants of the plane died instantly.
Damir Krsticevic said he was resigning after the increase in military aviation incidents and accidents in Croatia. Another Croatian military aircraft, a helicopter, crashed three months ago, killing two pilots.

The Ministry of Defense said that the single-engine aircraft, model Zlin, crashed around 16:00, local time. Officials did not say what could have caused the plane to crash in a populated area on the outskirts of Zadar. The images on the spot show the burned plane, near a house.
