The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Cypriot authorities have revised the entry conditions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thus, Romania remains included in the list of category C states, along with Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia and Sweden.

Cyprus has revised the entry conditions

As of August 4, special permit for access to the territory of the Republic of Cyprus can be obtained through the portal www.cyprusflightpass.gov.cy. Documents certifying the need to make the trip will be submitted with the application for the issuance of the special permit.

In this context, the MFA states that the Cypriot authorities have operationalized, since August 1, a call center for assistance in using the CyprusFlightPass platform.

Categories of citizens with the right to enter Cyprus

The MFA recalls that, in accordance with the measures adopted by the Cypriot authorities, access to the territory of the Republic of Cyprus is permitted. only to certain categories of citizens coming from countries included in category C, as follows:

1.      Cypriot citizens and foreign nationals legally residing in Cyprus may enter on condition that they present documents proving their residence, of the travel authorization obtained through the portal www.cyprusflightpass.gov.cy 24 hours before travel and negative RT-PCR molecular test for COVID-19 infection. The test can be performed either in Romania, in an accredited laboratory, or at the airport, upon arrival.

2.      other categories of people (holders of diplomatic passports on a mission, businessmen or scientists who have to travel for professional reasons, athletes with contracts with clubs in Cyprus, specialists with employment contracts, humanitarian cases, etc.) can only enter on condition that they obtain a special permit issued by the Cypriot Ministry of Interior.  

In addition to the special permit, upon entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus must be presented travel authorization obtained through the portal www.cyprusflightpass.gov.cy 24 hours before travel uni a RT-PCR type molecular test with negative result for COVID-19 infection.

For those with special permits, the test can be performed only in Romania. With maximum 72 hours before the moment of entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. Must attested by a certificate written in English.

Isolation 14 days

Also, The MFA reminds that all persons arriving in the Republic of Cyprus from countries included in category C must isolate themselves for a period of 14 days. Failure to comply with this condition is punishable by a fine of 300 euros.

Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the telephone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Nicosia: 00357 22495333, 00357 22517333, the calls being redirected to the Contact and Support Center of Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and taken over by the Call Center operators, in regim permanently.
