Finnair had to cancel around 100 flights from Helsinki on Sunday 20 November and Monday 21 November. The Finnish trade union AKT has announced a strike by Finnair's cabin crew.

Affected passengers have been re-routed to other flights and will be compensated. We remind you that, according to the EU regulation, air passengers have the right to compensations of up to 600 EURO for canceled flights including in the case of strikes by airline employees. Passengers can check the status of flights on Finnair's website, where they should have the correct contact details.

The strike does not affect flights operated by Norra, nor flights whose cabin services are provided by Finnair's partners, such as flights to Singapore and India. Flights operated by the aircraft and crew of other airlines on behalf of Finnair, such as those to Barcelona and Madrid, will not be affected.

Finnair air traffic will return to normal on Monday afternoon, but the strike may still affect individual flights after Monday. Return flights scheduled for Sunday and Monday will also be affected.

Finnair employees did not agree with the company's measures to reduce expenses, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine, but also following the negative results obtained following the pandemic. Finnair has announced that it is starting negotiations to amend its plans to increase subcontracting of cabin services on long-haul routes.
