The French Foreign Ministry has advised French citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Ukraine due to national security concerns. Tensions between Ukrainian and Russian troops on the country's northern and eastern borders are rising.

"We have already expressed our concern about the consolidation of the Russian army on the border with Ukraine, and yesterday we updated our travel advice, recommending increased vigilance for our compatriots in Ukraine or who want to travel there. We continue to follow the evolution of the situation with the utmost vigilance "

He also said that the French government remains in close consultation with the European Union and is open and ready to adjust its position on the situation in Ukraine, as it deems most appropriate.

According to France 24, the statement follows the advice of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which represents the military alliance between the bloc of 27 nations, which calls for strengthening the necessary measures to protect the lives of expats.

"NATO will continue to take all necessary measures to protect and defend all allies, including by strengthening the eastern part of the Alliance. We will always respond to any damage our security environment, "NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement.

On the other hand, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the United States and NATO were creating tensions between Russia and Ukraine through "information hysteria" and "concrete actions."

Moreover, the Baltic countries have already called for reinforcements from NATO and the United States, as the situation could worsen as 100.000 Russian troops head to the Ukrainian border.

In an attempt to help the Ukrainian people, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has allocated 1,2 billion euros to help the country meet its financial needs because of the conflict.

Recently, the French government offered to send troops to Romania and noted that the United States is considering increasing the number of military troops in the region.
