As of September 13, new restrictions have been imposed on Greece for people who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Kathimerini newspaper. These new measures include the need for unvaccinated workers to be tested once or twice a week and to allow access to certain enclosures only to those who have been vaccinated or can prove that they have contracted the coronavirus in the last six months.
These measures will be in force until March 31, 2022.
Under the new rules, all private or public sector workers who do not have a vaccination certificate or have recently contracted the disease must undergo a rapid test once a week.
- Two tests per week must be performed by people working in education, tourism, restaurants, cafes, bars and leisure, as well as for schoolchildren and students.
- The tests will be performed by private laboratories, and their cost of 10 euros will be paid by the person tested.
- The tests will be free only for students.
- Unvaccinated people will only be able to enter cinemas, theaters, museums, archeological sites and gyms if a rapid negative test is performed 48 hours before the visit.
- Masks will be mandatory for all public places and crowded outdoor areas.
- Confirmation of the presence of vaccination or disease, as well as a quick test within 48 hours are also required for long-distance travel, whether by air, train, sea or land.
- The tests must be performed by people over the age of 12.
Vaccines are provided free of charge to anyone over the age of 12.
