On 22 May 2015, Ordu-Giresun Airport (IATA: OGU, ICAO: LTCB) in Turkey opened its doors for passenger traffic. Located off the coast of the Black Sea Gülyalı, this is the first European airport built on an artificial island.

The airport serves the cities of Ordu and Giresun, a region with a population of 1.2 million inhabitants, and is projected to transit 2 million passengers annually. The airport is located 19 km from Ordu and 25 km from Giresun.

The airport was built on an artificial island due to the unavailability of a geographically appropriate place, in the area being rocky mountains and would have been too much of a challenge for the aircraft. Work at this airport started in 1994, but stopped shortly because of the high costs. They were resumed on 13 July 2011, the final costs being 132.6 million US dollars.

35 million tonnes of rock were used to fill an area of 1.8 million m2. The track has the dimensions 3 000 m × 45 m and is made of a mixture of stone and asphalt. The terminal building has an area of 20 000 by m2.

On May 22, 2015, an Airbus A321 Turkish Airlines aircraft with 136 passengers, which operated a flight from Istanbul, landed for the first time at this airport. Turkish Airlines operates 4 weekly flights on the Istanbul Ataturk - Ordu-Giresun (OGU) route. The inauguration of the airport was made by Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
