Hungary has concluded an agreement with the Republic of Moldova to eliminate travel restrictions for those vaccinated.
Vaccinated travelers from Hungary and Moldova will be able to travel between the two countries without having to submit to entry restrictions, such as quarantine or PCR testing, starting May 31, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has confirmed.
"We are continuing discussions with other countries on mutual acceptance of immunity certificates and the removal of travel restrictions.", said Minister Szijjártó. A few months ago, following the example of several EU countries, the Hungarian government decided to launch a COVID-19 passport for all immunized travelers.

In early May, Hungary decided to enter into bilateral agreements with various countries to relaunch international travel. Thus, since 11 May, Turkey has recognized the Hungarian passport COVID-19 between the two countries without the need to be subject to entry restrictions, such as quarantine or PCR testing.
On 13 May, six other countries agreed to recognize Hungary's COVID-19 passport, including Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey and Bahrain. A few days later, Romania also joined this list. The document will be issued to citizens who have received both doses of the vaccine, indicating the date of administration of the second dose. This document will not have an expiration date because there is not enough information about how long immunity lasts after vaccination.
Last month, Hungary launched the EESZT application which serves as the COVID-19 digital certificate.
To date, 5.146.949 people have received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine in Hungary, and 3.611.690 have received both doses of the vaccine. After reaching 5 million vaccinated people, Hungary intends to lift the state of emergency and the obligation to wear a mask outdoors.
According to Worldometers statistics, Hungary currently has 74.569 active cases and 5 deaths. 700.236 recovered from the infection, and the total number of cases is 804.538.
"EU COVID digital certificate" will have a physical and a digital version, which will work through a QR code. The health passport, as it was called, will contain all the health information of the air passengers, vaccine certificates against COVID-19, certificates attesting that the holder has overcome the disease, as well as the results of PCR tests performed by the holder. The certificate created by the EU will be similar to the one currently used by Hungary.
