In 2015, we closely watched the development of the regional airport from IASI and we were surprised by the beautiful evolution. The investments made in the last two years have started to yield remarkable results.
Iasi Airport ended last year with a figure of NUMBER of passengers, thus exceeding its own estimate, by 350.000 of passengers, a figure that assures the Iasi airport, at this moment, the third place among the regional airports in the country, after Cluj and Timisoara. In addition, the data centralized by the airlines, regarding the passenger traffic on the Iasi Airport in 2016, are very optimistic - over 850.000, double compared to last year.
In 2015, Iasi Airport saw a significant evolution in the number of aircraft movements, with 16% more than 2014.

This year, Iasi Airport offers 16 passengers external flights operated by 4 different companies. 5 new external destinations, announced last year, will be launched soon:
Blue Air - Barcelona (March 11), Brussels (March 11), Cologne (June June);
Wizz Air - Larnaca (1 July) and Catania (3 July).
At the same time, there will be introduced flights that already exist in the route portfolio of Iasi Airport (Bologna, Rome, Tel Aviv), but which are operated by other companies, while other routes, such as London and Milan, will increase their frequency.

And again this year, a third airline, which already operates flights from Iasi, will be based in the capital of Moldova, a fact that confirms the potential of the area.
In 2016, Iasi Airport will continue the steps regarding the establishment of new direct external routes, and the next strategy will be to find connections with major hubs of the world, which will ensure the transcontinental transfer through very good connections. Last but not least, Iaş will be connected with areas in northern Europe. The novelty in 2016, in what concerns the diversification of the portfolio of routes, is the opening of domestic races, there is great demand in this regard.

We believe in the idea of mutual respect to those who participated with us in this broad development process. We also hope that the year 2016 will bring new partners, if we refer to airlines, but the details of this decision can be announced only if these discussions materialize. However, we hope that soon we can confirm the opening of the Iasi-Timisoara domestic route, and it is very likely that even in 2016, even if it is not until the end of the year, one can fly directly from Iasi to Madrid, a highly requested destination in last period, "said Marius BODEA, President of the Board of the International Airport Iasi.
