In 24 hours, over 5000 planes flew over London (Video)

NATS (National Air Traffic Services) made a video of the planes flying over London in 24 hours. Are you curious to see what the sky in the UK looks like?

Are there among us people who do not look up to heaven when they hear the engines of a plane? I do not think! Whether you are passionate about airplanes and flying, or you do not have this passion, we all look at the planes that are flying the sky.

Through 2012 I wrote that Romania has 200 of airways / colorways. Every day, hundreds of airplanes cross the Romanian sky in transit or to the Romanian airports. But what does the sky of London look like where one of the largest and busiest airports in Europe is?

Over 5000 planes flew over London

To get an idea of London's air traffic, NATS (National Air Traffic Services) made a video of 24 hours and using radar information. On 7 August 2018, approx 5000 of airplanes have crossed London sky, transiting or flying to the 5 London airports.

NATS also tells us that it was a busy summer (June, July and August), with 736 800 of commercial aircraft in the UK airspace. A new record has been set, with 5 683 more aircraft than air traffic recorded during the same period in 2017. Thus, 6 consecutive years of growth are marked.

NATS (National Air Traffic Services) mentioned that this year, until the end of August, it monitored and managed 25% of European air traffic. During this time, total delays of only 2.6% were recorded.

But all NATS (National Air Traffic Services) sounds an alarm. Although major investments are made in technology and personnel, the system may not be able to cope with the accelerated growth of air traffic in the near future.

What's next? We will see!
