The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile - ENAC) has sent a letter to the Irish regulatory authority informing that the airline RYANAIR has repeatedly violated the anti-COVID health regulations imposed in Italy.

In other words, the Italian authorities are threatening to block RYANAIR if the regulations and anti-COVID health measures imposed on Italy are not complied with.

Measures include: social distance at airports - at check-in, at boarding gates and in passenger buses to and from the terminal. Airlines are also responsible for ensuring that staff and passengers wear masks during flights, changing them every four hours for long journeys.

The Italian authorities stated that: “The obligation to keep passengers away is not respected. Other mandatory measures imposed in Italy are ignored ", it is shown in a communiqué.

If Ryanair does not comply, ENAC could reduce occupancy on RYANAIR flights by 50% or even apply the provisions of the navigation code (art. 802 - departure ban) and impose the suspension of all air transport activities at airports in Italy, requesting the carrier to ensure the redirection of all passengers who already hold tickets.

RYANAIR denies the "incorrect" allegations, claiming that it fully complies with the measures set by the Italian government. "Our customers can rest assured because we do our best to reduce the interaction in our aircraft and at airports. We are taking all necessary measures to protect the health of passengers and crews when flying with Ryanair ", it is shown in a press release.
