The Dutch airline KLM has announced that it will stop flights to Ukraine due to the urgent travel alert issued by the Netherlands on Saturday.

The Foreign Ministry warned Dutch citizens not to travel to Ukraine and said those there, including residents, should leave the country. The new travel advice was issued due to growing fears that Russia would invade Ukraine.

The next flight to the capital, Kiev, was scheduled to depart on Sunday at 01 a.m., but was canceled. The decision was not only determined by the new travel tips, but also on the basis of a "comprehensive safety analysis", according to KLM. The airline has already stopped flying over the eastern regions of Ukraine and Crimea since 00, when a Malaysia Airlines flight MH2014 was shot down by a rocket fired by pro-Russian separatists.
