Lithuania will ban Russian airlines from using Baltic airspace from Saturday, February 26, at 22:00 GMT (00:00 local time), due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the government has announced.

Lithuania is the shortest route from mainland Russia to its slave in Kaliningrad, between Lithuania and Poland, NATO members, on the east coast of the Baltic Sea.

Prior to this decision and Romania has decided to close its airspace for Russian airlines.
