The flights between the USA and Mexico have been the most requested in the last few months. More relaxed travel restrictions in Mexico have forced US airlines to operate flights to tequila resorts.

Mexico is one of the few countries that has not closed its borders, and passengers do not have to take a negative COVID-19 test or be quarantined upon entry.

As a result, Mexican destinations are among the most popular getaways for those traveling from the US. The top destinations were Cancun (CUN), Guadalajara (GDL), Los Cabos (SJD) and Mexico City (MEX).

In a recent report, Bloomberg Intelligence concluded that data from October show that flights to Mexico were among the most requested, non-premium transactions decreased by only 39% compared to last year. Also tariffs fell by 20% as US operators increased capacity.

CAPA and OAG data show that for the week of November 23, the number of seats occupied on flights between the US and Mexico decreased by only 12% compared to the previous year. For example, the number of seats on flights between the US and Canada fell by 91%.

Mexican destinations are among the most popular among American tourists.

Recently, partners Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico stated that, in December, it intends to operate 95% of its flights which they operated in the same period in 2019.

Delta and United Airlines plan to operate flights to resorts in Mexico during the winter holidays. Aeromexico offers flights from MEX and GDL to many destinations in the US, including the resumption of service between MEX and Seattle (SEA).

Low-cost operators also take advantage of these opportunities.  Mexican airlines Volaris and Viva Aerobus will resume flights to various US destinations, and US airlines JetBlue and Southwest along with Frontier Airlines are also adding flights to Mexican leisure destinations.
