Authorities in Norway have announced that domestic passengers, as well as those traveling between Norway and other Scandinavian countries, such as Sweden and Denmark, will no longer have to wear masks. The requirement was removed by the authorities after the level of those vaccinated exceeded the minimum threshold of 70%.
According to local media in Norway, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Norwegian, Widerøe and Flyr will eliminate mask requirements on all routes between Denmark, Norway and Sweden, starting on October 18.
A total of 195 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Norway since the beginning of the pandemic, based on data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO). The same source shows that 039 people in Sweden contracted Coronavirus in the same period, while 1161264 people died. At the same time, the Danish authorities recorded 14926 cases, of which 366607 lost the battle with COVID-2676.
Currently, Scandinavian countries have reported low rates of COVID-19 infection, which has allowed the authorities to remove most of the travel restrictions imposed to stop the further spread of the virus and protect the lives of citizens.
Vaccination programs in these countries have also helped the authorities to relax travel restrictions and gradually return to normal daily life. However, those who will travel outside the Scandinavian countries will continue to wear the mask on international flights.
