Romanians choose to travel to Romania in the Easter mini-vacation

The Easter holiday is the perfect pretext for Romanians to get away with their loved ones, so almost a quarter of Romanians have already made travel plans, according to a study conducted in March by the hotel reservation platform HotelGuru.ro. Top travel preferences include Bucovina (33%), Transylvania (27%) and Valea Prahovei (24%).

The spring season and, of course, the Easter holiday increase the number of online bookings, compared to the other months of the year, hoteliers say.

This year, the Romanians prefer the destinations of Romania, to the detriment of the big European capitals, so that 89% of the respondents opted for a holiday in the country.

To mark the festive atmosphere of the period, hoteliers welcome their clients with many services and facilities, such as access to the swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, fitness room. Moreover, they prepare traditional menus and decorations in tandem with the Easter holiday.

Romanians are willing to spend 300-600 lei per person for a mini Easter holiday

According to the study, the majority of those staying opt for a package of two or three nights, and the average price for a stay varies from 300-600 of lei / person. Also, most prefer to travel with family (46%), couples (38%) or with friends (11%).

The favorite destinations for Easter travel are the regions where traditions and customs continue to be echoed and admired by locals and tourists. Thus, the most beloved of them are the villages of Bucovina (33%), Transylvania (27%) and Valea Prahovei (24%).

Favorite holiday activities: sightseeing and hiking

Visiting the tourist attractions is on the list of vacation activities for 45% of Romanians. Also appreciated are hiking in nature, relaxing at the SPA or indoor or outdoor sports.
When choosing their accommodation unit, important criteria are the price (41%), the relaxation facilities, such as access to the SPA and the existence of a playground or swimming pool (27%).

Romanians prefer to book their holiday online

About 70% of respondents said they prefer to purchase their holiday packages through online booking platforms, appreciating the speed and transparency of the operation, the information provided, as well as the multitude of offers and any benefits offered exclusively online.

The study was conducted in March, 2018, on a sample of 1475 persons.
