Romanians prefer to spend their winter holidays in the country - average budget of 1000 lei / person

Romanians spend Christmas with their family, and New Year's Eve together with friends and family, is the conclusion of a study conducted in November by the hotel reservation platform HotelGuru.ro. 65% of respondents plan to go on vacation this winter and most (76%) prefer cities or mountain resorts in Romania.

Among the top destinations in Romania chosen by the Romanians for the winter holidays are the Prahova Valley, the Bran - Moeciu area, but also resorts such as Băile Felix, Tusnad, Gura Humorului and Sovata.

However, those who choose to spend their winter holidays abroad opt for a nearby skiing destination, such as Austria, Bulgaria and France, but also Germany, Hungary and the United Kingdom. There are also exotic destinations such as the United Arab Emirates - Dubai and the Caribbean islands.

In terms of activities, during the winter holidays relaxation at the spa or wellness occupies the main place (51%) in the preferences of the Romanians, 47% of them prefer to be next to the loved one, in a romantic setting, while 45% want to do nature trips, and 37% to visit cities. Most would prefer to travel with their spouse or friend (59%), while 37% with family and 23% with friends.

About 36% of respondents replied that the reasonable price for a maximum stay of one week, with transport, accommodation and food included should be between 600-1.000 lei per person. For destinations abroad 34% of Romanians replied that the reasonable price should be between 300-500 Euro per person.
The study was conducted on a sample of 2.380 respondents from Romania, who participated online on the HotelGuru.ro website when completing the questionnaire during the 13.11.2014 - 28.11.2014 period.
