St. Petersburg closes: restaurants, shopping malls and public places close!

Restaurants, cafes and shops will be closed in St. Petersburg from October 30 to November 7, according to a decree signed on Saturday by Governor Alexander Beglov.

"Between October 30 and November 7, it is forbidden to operate retail facilities. The activity of public catering establishments is suspended except for deliveries, gas stations, as well as canteens to enterprises. The document is posted on the city administration website.

In addition, beauty salons, sports centers and secondary commercial activities will be closed, with the exception of pharmacies, gas stations and grocery stores. Veterinary assistance will also be suspended, except in cases of emergency. During the week-long holiday, access to swimming pools, water parks and other recreation areas, including for children, will be restricted. Domestic service centers will also be closed.

The authorities in St. Petersburg suspended the activity of cultural institutions on non-working days, except for theaters and museums, banned entertainment and sports events.

To date, 683.103 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in St. Petersburg, Russia's second most affected region after Moscow. In addition, 23.296 deaths were recorded in Russia's second largest city. In the last 24 hours, 3.360 infections have been registered in St. Petersburg.
