Citizens from European Union countries, who intend to travel to Saudi Arabia, will be subject to the new tourist visa scheme that the authorities have introduced to increase the number of international visitors.

Regarding the visa issue, the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Al Khateeb announced that he has signed a new decree to facilitate the travel process for internationals who intend to visit this country.

Saudi Arabian authorities have also confirmed that holders of tourist or business visas valid in the UK or Schengen countries are also eligible to apply for a visa on arrival, provided the other visa has been used at least once to enter the issuing country.

It was also revealed that the new tourist visa scheme can also benefit residents of the United States, as well as those of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

In March, the authorities in Saudi Arabia announced that they had decided to reintroduce visas on arrival for travelers holding valid Schengen or UK visas. The decision was confirmed by Saudi Arabia's Tourism Minister in an announcement to the State News Agency.

"The restoration of the visa-on-arrival program marks the final step in returning Saudi Arabia to a pre-pandemic level of openness and makes it one of the world's most accessible destinations for leisure, business and religious travel. In addition, this government decision will further support thousands of people who depend on tourism for their livelihood…”, Al-Khateeb pointed out.

We remind you that Wizz Air will fly from Romania to Saudi Arabia, on the routes from Bucharest to Jeddah and Riyadh. However, Wizz Air has announced an extensive operational program from Saudi Arabia to 20 European destinations.
