Danube Delta - the place where Nature performs

To understand the Danube Delta, you must travel and discover it from within. In the case of a city, it is easy to read a few recommendations, install the map and guide yourself after it on the streets. The Danube Delta cannot be discovered only by reading or by map.

The Danube Delta is a wild land where man lives with nature. It is our duty to learn to live in nature, by its rules, not ours. We must continue to protect this reservation and enjoy this wonderful place.

The Danube Delta

The Danube Delta is an exotic land with over 300 of bird species, over 130 of fish species, over 2000 of insect and vegetation species as it encompasses. This enchanted land is also a stop for migratory birds, many of which can be found in the summer season.

The season in the Danube Delta starts with the arrival of the birds and ends when they leave. It may sound strange, but they are the main points of attraction and can be seen most easily. But Delta does not close completely. Nature continues to perform even in the off-season, and you can pay a visit and listen carefully.

I have been to the Danube Delta several times and I will continue to go, to discover this green corner more and more. I appreciated the simplicity of the places. Once I got to the Delta, I felt like my daily worries were gone (they stayed somewhere far away). In the Delta, time passes differently, and life is much more beautiful without horns, without agitation and without the crowds in the big cities.

In the Danube Delta I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets (and I saw some spectacular ones in 3 decades and a little over), I traveled on canals, I saw the birds in their natural environment, I fished and I liked to discover the local community. The people in Delta seem to be broken by reality, but they have their reality and I think they are richer (not the material side I mean) than many of us.

You should know that the Danube Delta entered the UNESCO World Heritage in 1991, being classified as a national biosphere reserve in Romania and as a national park in the international taxonomy of IUCN (International Union for Nature Conservation). The Danube Delta site (from 21 to 1991) is protected by The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands as a wetland of international importance.

Delta occupies (together with the Razim-Sinoe lagoon complex) over 5000 km2, of which 732 km2 belong to Ukraine, the Romanian Delta returning an area of ​​2540 km2 (without the lagoon complex).

It is framed by adjacent lakes and lakes and comprises hundreds of lakes between the arms, of which several dozen large ones. Due to the 67 million tons of alluvial brought by the Danube, the Danube Delta grows annually with approximately 40 m2.

How can you not love such a place full of flora and fauna, in which time seems to dilate? I support and encourage the development of tourism in the region, but with a great sense of responsibility. We must not disturb nature, we must not alter the ecosystem and it is not good to intervene too much in regional changes. As I said in the title, Nature does a show in the Danube Delta, and we must listen to it carefully.

I like it when I see that new accommodation opportunities appear, when the guesthouses are built in a perfect symbiosis between the modernism of the 21st century and the traditionalism of the place.
