The FAA issues a warning for scheduled flights across the Russian-Ukrainian border
The FAA has warned airlines to review flights across the Russian-Ukrainian border over tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Air operators must notify scheduled flights over the airspace covering the Russian-Ukrainian border at least 72 hours in advance.
The FAA noted that regional tensions between Russia and Ukraine could lead to cross-border conflicts. Operators are asked to be extremely careful while flying over the region, especially for flights flying over the Dnipropetrovsk, Simferopol, Kiev, Moscow and Rostov-on-Don areas.
The previous FAA warning for Ukraine, according to SFAR 113, remains in effect. ITit is forbidden American operators to fly over the eastern part of the UKDV / Dnipropetrovsk FIR due to the threat in the region. In essence, everything east of ABDAR - M853 - NIKAD - N604 - GOBUN is forbidden. Flights to UKHH / Kharkiv, UKDD / Dnipropetrovsk and UKDE / Zaporizhzhia airports are allowed.
Other countries have issued similar warnings to their companies to avoid the area UKFV / Simferopol and UKDV / Dnipropetrovsk FIRs, including Canada, the United Kingdom and France.
Russia has recently moved thousands of troops to its eastern border with Ukraine and Crimea. This is the largest deployment of Russian troops since the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014. This has put the international community on high alert.
