Initially, Wizz Air announced the allocation of 3 new aircraft to the Vienna base and the launch of 17 routes to destinations: Gdansk, Tuzla and Varna in April, Bari, Malta, Rome, Valencia and Tel Aviv in June and Billund, Bergen, Dortmund, Kutaisi , Larnaca, Nis, Ohrid, Tenerife and Thessaloniki in November. Then followed the announcement of the route CLUJ - VIENNA (since May 30, 2018), a route loved by many Romanians. And we are still waiting for the Bucharest - Vienna route to be announced :).

Officially, the Wizz Air base in Vienna will open in June. But some routes to Vienna will be inaugurated earlier and will be honored with aircraft from the existing bases.

And the Wizz Air plane in Vienna doesn't stop there. In early March, Wizz Air announced a major expansion for 2019. The number of aircraft based in Vienna will reach 5, and the number of routes operated will reach 27. There will be approximately 2 million places for sale throughout the year 2019.

In addition to the routes already announced, passengers will be able to travel from Vienna to Nice in France, Reykjavik in Iceland, Catania and Milan in Italy, Lisbon in Portugal, Madrid in Spain, Malmo and Stockholm Skavsta in Sweden and Kharkiv in Ukraine.

Establishing the base and expanding operations represents a total investment of over 570 million dollars (we are talking about the value of the 5 planes scheduled to arrive in Vienna). By opening this base, Wizz Air achieves 200 direct jobs.

Wizz Air's expanded operations will also contribute to the local economy, supporting jobs in the aviation, transportation, hospitality and tourism industries.
