Today, August 22, an Antonov AN-26 aircraft (the YI-AZR aircraft, unknown in international registers) crashed in South Sudan. The crash occurred shortly after taking off from the runway at Juba Airport in South Sudan. The aircraft allegedly crashed near Kemeru.

After the crash, a fire engulfed the entire aircraft, completely destroying it. There are also victims. Witnesses say 6 people died and one was seriously injured and was taken to hospital.

The Antonov AN-26 cargo aircraft took off from Juba Airport to Aweil Airport. The plane belonged to South West Aviation. The director of the Juba airport told the Anadolu news agency that there were 8 people on board the plane, but it is not yet known exactly how many people died and how many were injured.
