A Brazilian woman found at Otopeni Airport with about 1 kg of drugs ingested in her stomach

Based on the risk analyzes, the border police officers from PPF Henri Coandă, in collaboration with the customs workers, found a woman, a Brazilian citizen, who tried to introduce in the country about 1 kg of cocaine ingested in the stomach. In this case, investigations are being carried out, under the coordination of DIICOT prosecutors - Central Structure, in terms of committing the crimes of international high-risk drug trafficking and domestic high-risk drug trafficking.

On 17.02.2022, the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism - Central Structure ordered the detention for 24 hours of a defendant investigated for committing the crimes of international high-risk drug trafficking and domestic drug trafficking risk.

It was noted that on 14.02.2022, the person in question presented himself at the Henri Coandă Airport Border Crossing Point and, following the controls but also the risk analyzes carried out by the border police and customs workers, it resulted the suspicion that she ingested drugs in order to introduce them on the Romanian territory. In this context, the defendant was transported to a hospital where, between 15 and 17.02.2022, she eliminated the total amount of approximately 1 kilogram of viscous substance containing cocaine.

During today, the defendant will be presented to the Bucharest Tribunal with a proposal for pre-trial detention, for a period of 30 days.

The action benefited from the support of the officers from IGPF - Bucharest - Otopeni Airports Border Surveillance and Crossing Control Center, Bucharest Organized Crime Brigade and workers from the General Directorate of Customs - Otopeni Călători Airport Border Customs Office.
