On August 22 2017, EL AL and Air Lease Corporation celebrated the delivery of the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Today, 23 August, the aircraft landed in Tel Aviv after a direct flight of 6,746 miles (10,856 km).
EL AL received the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft is leased to Air Lease Corporation, but delivered directly from Boeing - Paine Field Base.

The plane is part of an order of 16 Dreamliner aircraft (7 x 787-8 and 9 x 787-9), which was placed with 18 months ago. The first 787-9 Dreamliner EL AL bears the 4X-EDA code and is configured in 2 classes: 32 places for business and 250 places for business.
Since 1961, EL AL has been an airline with the fleet consisting solely of Boeing aircraft. The Israeli carrier fleet currently has over 40 of Boeing aircraft, including the 737 Next Generation, 747-400, 767-300ER and 777-200ER.
The new Dreamliner aircraft will replace the current 747-400 and 767-300ER models. From September 12, the first 787-9 Dreamliner EL AL will enter commercial service on the Tel Aviv - London (Heathrow) route. From October 29 2017 will be introduced on the Tel Aviv - Newark route. From 18 to March 2018, EL AL will fly with Dreamliner on the Tel Aviv - Hong Kong route.
