The "Avram Iancu" International Airport in Cluj celebrated today the passenger with the number 1.000.000 registered in 2021. The event represented a very important landmark for the airport but also for the region it serves.

This year the International Airport "Avram Iancu" Cluj reaches for the tenth time in its history the threshold of 1 million passengers recorded in a calendar year, this celebration thus becoming a symbolic event.

The first time when Cluj International Airport managed to exceed the number of 1.000.000 registered passengers in a calendar year was in 2010, and since then except for the years 2012 and 2020, every year there was this possibility to mark the success and the excellence of airport operations through an anniversary celebrated with our passengers and partners.

If in 2010, 2011 and 2013, the symbolic milestone of 1 million passengers was exceeded only in December of each year, in 2019, the best year in history in terms of registered passenger traffic, this threshold has been exceeded since May, respectively May 23, 2019.

Another interesting aspect related to the way in which the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic affected the passenger traffic at Cluj International Airport, also comes from the observation that four years ago, for example, on September 21, 2017, the airport celebrated its passenger numbering 2.000.000 that year.

Passenger with number 1.000.000 registered in the year 2021, was transported this year by the air operator animewings, on his flight A2-5731 from Zakynthos (Greece) to Cluj-Napoca. The lucky passenger was selected and awarded at the landing, in the presence of representatives of local authorities, partner institutions and organizations, representatives of the airport and the airline, respectively representatives of the media.
