Starting with the 2020-2021 winter season, Schönefeld Airport has become Terminal 5 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport. And Terminals A, B, C, D of Schönefeld Airport were named K, L, M, Q. The transition to the new BER code was made on the night of October 24-25.

SXF is now BER. The modernized SXF terminals have been given a new lease of life. As BER Terminal 5, the completely renovated Schönefeld Airport will provide the additional capacity needed to reliably manage BER operations. Schönefeld will remain a central part of the airport.

The new changes have been implemented since March 31, 2020, and as of this weekend they are officially part of Berlin's new airport. From T5, 17 airlines will operate, including Wizz Air and Ryanair. Terminal 5 has enough capacity to handle 8-10 million passengers a year.

The official opening of Berlin Brandenburg Airport will take place on October 31, 2020, with parallel landing of Lufthansa and easyJet aircraft. It is no coincidence that the 2 airlines were chosen, as they have the largest bases at BER.
