On April 23, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the new airline in the United Arab Emirates, received the AOC (Air Operating Certificate). It allows it to start operations in Abu Dhabi and becomes the country's fifth air carrier.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will continue to "work closely" with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to prepare for the flight. The launch date will be announced shortly, as market conditions improve and travel restrictions will be lifted.

Saif Al Suwaidi, director general of the GCAA, said: "While the global aviation industry continues to face the biggest challenge posed by COVID-19 on air traffic, today's announcement reflects the United Arab Emirates' strength and confidence in the aviation sector and its long-term prospects.

"The United Arab Emirates is a global hub and we continue to offer our residents and visitors multiple options to stay connected and explore the world. Today's announcement serves as another test of the United Arab Emirates' investment in strengthening the aviation sector. "
