Air France received the first Airbus A220 from an order of 60 units

Air France received the first A220-300 from an order for 60 such aircraft, the largest A220 order placed by a European carrier. The aircraft was delivered from the Airbus assembly line in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada and officially unveiled to the public during a ceremony held at Charles-De-Gaulle Airport in Paris.

A220 is the most efficient and flexible aircraft in the market segment 100 - 150 seats. 

The renewal of the single-aisle fleet will increase efficiency, along with customer comfort, and support Air France in meeting its environmental and sustainability goals.

The first Air France A220-300 will be operated on its network of medium routes, from the winter season 2021 - 2022. Currently, Air France operates a fleet of 136 Airbus aircraft. Air France is also renewing its long-distance fleet and has already received 11 x A350s from an order of 38.

The Air France A220-300 cabin is configured in a one-class appearance with 148 comfortable seats. Offering superior single-aisle comfort with the widest leather seats, the largest windows and up to 20% more storage space per passenger, the A220 Air France also offers full WiFi in-cabin connectivity and two USB sockets on each seat. 

The first commercial flight operated by Airbus A220-300 Air France will be on the route Paris - Berlin, on October 31, and will then fly to Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Bologna, Milan, Rome, Venice, Lisbon and Copenhagen.

The A220 is the only aircraft built specifically for the 100-150-seat market and brings together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and state-of-the-art Pratt & Whitney engines. With a range of up to 6.390 km, the A220 offers airlines additional operational flexibility. 

The A220 is up to 25% more efficient in fuel consumption and CO2 / seat emissions compared to previous generation aircraft and emits 50% less NOx than industry standards. In addition, the noise is reduced by 50% compared to previous generation aircraft, the A220 being one of the quietest aircraft.

At the end of August, more than 170 A220 aircraft were delivered to 11 operators worldwide.
