Air traffic controllers in Greece have announced that they will join a 24-hour strike on Thursday 16 March 2023. According to an announcement by their union EEEKE, the strike starts at 00:01 on Thursday and ends at 24:00 on the same day.

Like other unions in the transport sector, air traffic controllers have announced strikes in the past, citing staff shortages. However, they had to cancel them because the courts ruled that they were "illegal".

This time, the 24-hour strike was launched by public and private sector unions, ADEDY and GSEE, demanding justice for train collision victims, no cover-ups and safe transportation.

Under these conditions, flights from/to Greece will be affected by this air traffic controller strike. On March 16, all flights will be canceled between 12:01 am and midnight local time (10:01 GMT – 22:00 GMT) with only flyovers, emergency flights and search and rescue flights rescue, an official from the Civil Aeronautics Authority of Greece told Reuters.
