In March 2014, AirlinesTravel announced the intentions of the company AirBaltic to launch flights to Romania.
This happened according to the schedule, and the Latvian air operator launched, on June 3, flights on the route Riga - Bucharest. The route between Bucharest and the European Capital of Culture in 2014 has a frequency of 4 flights per week, in the summer season 2014 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) and there will be 3 flights in winter, according to airBaltic representatives.
The four round trips provide connections both between the two capitals and to other destinations in the Baltic region, Scandinavia and Russia.
The flights will be operated by aircraft Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 NextGen, and the flight time is estimated at 2 hours and 55 minutes. The price of a return ticket starts from 179 euros, including airport taxes and booking fees, except for the price of hold luggage, which costs 30 euros on site payment or 40 euros at the airport. For those who will travel to Business Elite class, the price of a round trip ticket is 635 euros.
airBaltic estimates 20.000 - 25.000 number of passengers each year for the new route, of which 70% will travel on vacation and 30% for business purposes.
