With the delivery of the first Airbus A350ULR Singapore Airlines, the market for very long flights has opened, which can connect metropolises approximately 18 000 kilometers away.

As proof it will stand route Singapore - New York, to be unveiled by Singapore Airlines on 11 October 2018. It will be the longest flight in the world, estimated at 18: 45 hours, but will cover the longest flight distance, over 15 000 kilometers.

New standards for very long-haul flights

Through the A350XWB family of aircraft, Airbus has set new standards for long and long-haul flights. Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000 aircraft can cover most of the long routes, while providing increased comfort for passengers. And due to the existence of the demand for airplanes for extremely long flights, the variant A350-900ULR appeared.

The new A350ULR can fly nonstop up to 20 hours and can connect 2 destinations approximately 18 000 kilometers. The maximum take-off mass was set at 280 tonnes. In A350-900ULR aircraft tanks can be loaded up to 165 000 liters of kerosene, with 24 000 liters more than the classic A350-900.

Airbus has also developed the interior of the aircraft to ensure maximum comfort for passengers and crew. Singapore Airlines has configured A350ULR aircraft in 2 classes with a total of 161 seats. All this proves the reliability and flexibility of the A350XWB family of aircraft

We are curious what Boeing will do in this segment! Is 777X the long-awaited answer?
