But this article is not about Formula 1, but about the air show offered by an Airbus A380 (A6-APC) Etihad Airways and Al Fursan, the United Arab Emirates acrobatics team.

While Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were mentally preparing for an epic circuit finale, Commander Ali Al Jabri, on the left seat of the A380 Etihad Airways, was "crossing" the Yas Marina circuit start line.

The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also known as Sheikh Mohammed, is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and constitutional monarch of the Emirate of Dubai.

The formation flight started at 16: 47, on 27 November 2016, just minutes before the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The total flight time was 50 minutes, from take-off to landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The air show lasted approximately 10 minutes, during which time the aircraft passed several times over the Yas Marina circuit.
