In the Farnborough International Airshow 2014, following a final decision taken by the Group's Board of Directors, Airbus announced A330-800neo and A330-900neo, two new members in the Widebody aircraft family. The new aircraft will be equipped with state-of-the-art engines, the model Rolls-Royce Trent 7000. At the same time, the new models will benefit from aerodynamic upgrades and cabs with new features. Deliveries for A330-900neo (on average 310 seats) will start in Q4 2017, following from 2018 to enter the market the model A330-800neo (on average 252 places).
Based on the advantages offered by the A330 model, the new A330neo promises fuel economy of up to 14%, which translates into cost efficiency and a major plus in the mid-range Widebody aircraft market. In addition to fuel economy, the new A330neo will be able to fly more by up to 740 km.
Airbus relies heavily on this new model from the Widebody family. It is a natural evolution of the A330 model, one of the most appreciated in the market. According to official statements, the new A330neo will have new and more efficient engines, borrow the aerodynamic systems from the A350 XWB and come equipped with new cabs. And let's go a little through the history of the A330 model. The first flight of an A330 aircraft was operated on 2 November 1992, and the entry into commercial service was made in 17 January 1994 with Air Inter (Lignes Aériennes Intérieures). It is a model derived from Airbus A300. By June 2014, reports show that 1099 units were built.
