The large aircraft manufacturing companies drew the line after the first quarter of 2013. Airbus again market leader with 144 delivered aircraft and firm orders for 410 units. rival Boeing delivered 137 aircraft and received orders for 209 aircraft.

The year 2012 brought the first victory to the American aircraft manufacturer, after 5 years of dueling. But 2013 brings the European manufacturer back to the first stage. This is due to the very large orders received from Lion Air - 234 aircraft (109 A320neo, 65 A321neo and 60 classic A320) totaling 18.4 billion EURO. Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines also ordered 184 aircraft. Q1 was above Airbus estimates. They were hoping for a 2013 with 600 orders, but only in the first quarter they secured 60% of the figure.

At Boeing the situation was a little different. In January, Boeing estimated it would deliver over 600 aircraft to the 2013, but the issue with the 787 Dreamliner model ruined their plans. Orders stalled and deliveries on this model were close to zero.

Boeing announced that Ryanair's large order (175 of 737-800 aircraft) was not accounted for, nor were the 12 aircraft ordered by Sberbank Leasing for Transaero.

A very good year is announced for Airbus. You should take full advantage of the Paris Air Show 2013 and speculate on market rumors. An example is American Airlines that plans to drop Boeing aircraft and order over 260 Airbus aircraft from the A320 family.
