Airbus tests Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine dedicated to Airbus A350-1000 aircraft
In September 2015, the first Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine arrived at the Airbus base in Toulouse. It was mounted in the 2 position on the left wing of an Airbus A380-800 (MSN001) aircraft dedicated for testing. In-flight testing of the most powerful Rolls-Royce engine dedicated to the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft family will begin.
On the engine platform you can see the slogan "The world's most efficient large aero engine". Trent XWB-97 develops maximum traction power of 97000lbf (430kN).
Airbus has begun assembling the first A350-1000 XWB, and the first flight is scheduled for the middle of 2016. Airbus A350-1000 is the longest version of the new A350 XWB widebody aircraft family, measuring 74 meters. It can carry up to 366 of passengers in a standard configuration with 3 classes, for a maximum distance of 8000 of nautical miles (14816 Km). The A350-1000 aircraft will be powered by Trent XWB-97 engines.
