American Airlines eliminates 5 aircraft models from its fleet
Last month, American Airlines announced plans to accelerate the withdrawal of older, less fuel-efficient aircraft from its fleet.
American Airlines wants to resize the fleet earlier than originally planned because demand is declining and the operational schedule is greatly diminished. Nor is the post-COVID situation optimistic.
American Airlines eliminates 5 aircraft models
Thus, American Airlines officially withdraws the Embraer E190, Boeing 767, Boeing 757 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft. In addition, American also withdraws 19 Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft operated by PSA Airlines.
These removals from the fleet will reduce operational complexity. And that translates to financial economics. It will also help the airline focus on the use of state-of-the-art aircraft. Deliveries of A321neo, Boeing 737 MAX and 787 aircraft will continue.
By eliminating the 5 aircraft models, American Airlines is left with only 2 single-aisle models - the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 737. Lower costs for aircraft maintenance and crew training.
