An Olympic Air aircraft went off the runway on Milos Island

On January 14, an ATR 42-600 Olympic Air took off the runway on Milos Island. Due to the extremely difficult weather conditions and strong winds, the Olympic Air ATR42-600 (SX-OAZ) took off the runway during the landing. The plane operated flight OA22 (Athens - Milos Island) and had 20 passengers on board.

The authorities of Milos Island National Airport were immediately mobilized, and the 20 passengers together with the 3 crew members evacuated the aircraft safely. No one was injured. The aircraft suffered minor damage.

The incident is under investigation by the Greek Committee for the Investigation of Accidents and Flight Safety (EDAAP).
