Mriya with the 2 engine in flames
After landing on the 26R runway of the Leipzig airport, while moving to the parking area, a "tongue of fire" could be observed at the 2 (middle one) engine for about 1 minutes. Antonov An-225 Mriya is the only aircraft with 6 engines, 3 on the wing. Emergency services intervened shortly. This incident could keep the aircraft on the ground until problems are resolved.
We recall that it is the only aircraft of this type in the world. On 30 August 2016, ANTONOV Company (Ukroboronprom SC) and Aerospace Industry Corporation of China (AICC) signed a cooperation agreement on the AN-225 program. The first stage of this collaboration consists in construction of the 2 AN-225 Mriya to ANTONOV Company and its delivery to AICC.
