On November 7, the Antonov company, the Ukrainian state-owned manufacturer of the world's largest cargo plane, announced plans to rebuild the An-225 aircraft. They actually want to build another An-225 model aircraft, using 30% of the parts from the old one Antonov An-225. We remind you that Antonov An-225 was destroyed by Russian forces in February, shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine, at Gostomel airport near Kyiv.

The plane, also known as "Mriya", is said to cost over half a billion dollars to rebuild. The reconstruction is currently in the design phase.

"According to experts' estimates, there are currently about 30% of components that can be used for the second AN-225 model,” the company said, adding that exact details of the rebuild will only be released “ after Ukraine wins this war".

The An-225, which has been in service for over 30 years, was built in the Soviet era. The aircraft operated its first flight in 1988. It was built to carry the Soviet Buran spacecraft before being used for international cargo flights.
