Fighting the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Argentine government has banned all commercial passenger flights until September 1, 2020. We are talking here about all domestic and international flights.

Airlines and travel agencies cannot sell airline tickets without the prior authorization of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). The measure will be re-evaluated every two weeks. Repatriation and cargo flights will continue to be allowed.

Argentina bans all commercial flights

The announcement made by the authorities took the local air carriers by surprise. Several representatives of private airlines expressed concern. And even the national carrier Aerolineas Argentinas said that the measure taken represents an "imminent and substantial risk" for tens of thousands of jobs.

Although it is not the only country to ban flights, Argentina is the first to extend the measure for such a long time. We have been talking about the suspension of air and tourist activities for 4 months.

Argentina, which closed its borders on March 20, 2020, currently has 192 deaths and almost 4.000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 contamination.
