Sharklets wings reduce fuel consumption on Airbus A320 aircraft
Sharklets wings reduce fuel consumption on A320 aircraft by up to 3.5%. This means a reduction of CO2 emissions by up to 700 tonnes per aircraft, equivalent to CO2 emitted by 200 of cars.
Sharklets come standard on new Airbus A320Neo aircraft and optionally on new A320 family-built aircraft.
Sharklets are pieces made of carbon fiber and are mounted on the wing tips. They have a triangular shape and resemble the dorsal fin of a shark.
